Tomorrow

Clusters of twinkling lights reflect
off a bed of hardened snow,
drizzling downward.
Midnight, two below —
the grass hasn’t breathed in months.
Yet, as feet crunch along slick sidewalks,
tiny sprouts of green poke through ice,
drunk on the promise of tomorrow.

The Movers and Shakers

Source: Harper’s Bazaar https://bit.ly/3qQXBZn

We stand on the shoulders of giants
Women with strong arms and bold, fearless hearts
Women who’ve faced lifetimes of adversity
yet overcome, overcome, overcome.

They blaze trails, smash ceilings, lead the way
so that we can rise ever more.
Sisters, daughters, you and me
here to write history.

The question remains:
How can we make them proud
all the days of our lives?
